Description

The new Autool SDT206 Smoke Leak Detector is expertly designed to detect and diagnose leakages in automotive pipe systems such as the air intake system, fuel line and cooling tank.

  • Advanced Technology – The leak diagnostic and detector is equipped with a powerful built-in air pump, adjustable flowmeter and pressure gauge, allowing technicians to adjust and control the output of smoke for fast and accurate results. The new dual mode gives users the option of smoke or air pressure testing. 
  • Broad Compatibility – This machine can detect pipe system leaks in various 12V vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, ATVs, off-road vehicles and small trucks. It is also suitable for use on all vehicle models. 
  • Safe and Easy to Use – The Autool SDT206 safely identifies a leak point in a pipe system by blowing smoke into the pipe system. Simply connect the detector to the 12V battery and smoke will begin to escape from the compromised valve, seal, tube, or hose in seconds. A built-in system protector will automatically shut down the machine if it exceeds the temperature limit. 
  • EVAP System Support – The new generation Autool SDT206 Smoke Leak Detector can identify the leakage of fuel evaporation in the EVAP system with a specific EVAP connector.

How to conduct a leak test

  1. Using a measuring bottle with a pointed tip, add the test oil (baby oil or industrial glycerin) up to no more than 20 ml. 
  2. Open the engine bonnet and hang the leak detector under the cover.
  3. Disconnect the pipe that needs to be tested. If the pipe needs to be disconnected in the middle, secure the other side with a rubber stopple. 
  4. Connect the end of the pipe with the smoke output tube.
  5. Connect the leak detector with the DC12V battery: red with positive, black with negative. 
  6. Turn on the power switch and wait for a few seconds for the machine to begin the test. 
  7. Adjust the flow gauge accordingly, increasing for more smoke and decreasing for less. 
  8. In about 3 minutes, the pipe will be filled with smoke.
  9. Observe the floating ball in the flow gauge: If the pressure gauge reading continues to rise, it indicates that there is no leak point in the system. If the pressure gauge reading drops, it indicates that there is a leak point in the system. If the pressure gauge displays zero, it indicates the size of the leak point exceeds 0.3 mm. 
  10. Find and repair the leak point.

 

 

Maintenance Tips 

After long-use or extreme temperatures, the smoke and oil will oxidize and deteriorate. If not changed regularly, it will affect the service life and functionality of the machine. 

  1. Before filling the detector with new oil, pour out the existing oil.
  2. If the smoke output has water in it, replace it with new oil.
  3. Liquid paraffin and baby oil can be used for the test oil. 
  4. When filling the new oil, use a measuring bottle and fill up to 20 ml, no more.
